My bridal shower was a couple weeks ago! I had only really been to one before and I wasn’t really sure what to expect, to be honest. There were plenty of days when I was talking to my mom and she had to go because she needed to do “shower stuff”, but I was never quite sure what she was doing. And I love surprises, so I was happy to keep it that way. And when I walked into the room on the day, it was lovelier than I ever could have imagined.

Engagement Shoot, Bridesmaids Dresses and More
I’ll admit, these steps in our wedding planning process took place a couple weeks ago. I’ve been having some difficulty finding time to blog lately; I guess as I’m getting deeper into my novel I’ve been prioritizing that in an effort to ensure that I’m writing a little bit every day. But I love blogging and sharing here. So without further ado, some more of the progress we’ve made with wedding planning! Continue reading
I said YES to the dress!
When we decided to book a wedding date only eight months away, one of the things I needed to do sooner rather than later was get a wedding dress. They say that you have to give at least 6 months for the dress to come in and then alterations will take about a month, so we needed to get moving. So a couple weeks ago we headed up to Kleinfeld in New York, and I found a wedding dress! Continue reading
Setting a Date and Other Wedding Excitement
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted about the wedding planning, but it is not because there hasn’t been much happening on that front. Wedding Planning With No Plan
If you’re unfamiliar with the movie Bride Wars, it stars Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as best friends who. have dreamed of their perfect weddings since childhood. At the beginning of the movie, they are attending the wedding of a friend, discussing the things they like about her reception. Then Kate Hudson sighs, “but it ain’t June,” to which Anne Hathaway replies, “and it ain’t the Plaza.” In this movie, and I’m sure for many brides-to-be, they have a distinct vision of what they want their wedding to be. I have no such vision, and have therefore started into wedding planning without any sort of plan. Continue reading
I’m Engaged!
Over the weekend, the love of my life got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Honestly, I don’t even remember exactly what he said. When I realized what was happening, I started weeping uncontrollably, and the next thing I knew I had a ring on my finger, my arms wrapped around his neck and a feeling of unfettered happiness coursing through my body. That was my initial reaction: joy, love, excitement. For our relationship, for our life together, for the wedding we are about to plan. But in the days since, I’ve felt so much more. Continue reading
